House Rules of the dormitory

At the dormitory and at the Green Academy in general, we respect each other. This means that:

  • We are spacious and inclusive.

  • We speak kindly to each other

  • We respect others' boundaries

  • We take care of the school and each other

  • We actively and positively contribute to life at the dormitory

When you move into the dormitory, you also enter into a contract with us to follow the house rules below. We expect you to have read through them.

How do I receive my room upon arrival?

  • You will receive the room cleaned and intact. Wear and tear may occur depending on the age of the room.

  • It is your responsibility to report any defects and deficiencies to the dormitory leader via email: shj@ju.dk upon arrival. This way, you avoid being held responsible for deficiencies and damaged inventory upon departure. If something breaks during your stay, contact the dormitory leader via email as well.

  • We will make sure that towels, pillow, duvet and bedding is ready in your room, when you arrive.

What should I know about living in my room?

  • Your room and bathroom should always be tidy. You are responsible for the daily cleaning of your room.

  • Posters and similar items are not allowed to be hung on walls. Please use the pin board.

  • It is your responsibility to keep the door locked to prevent theft and unauthorized entry into the room.
  • If you forget your key, you can borrow key from the Administration for a deposit of 200 kr. However, the original key must be returned upon departure.

  • It is not allowed to have electric kettles, coffee makers, refrigerators, or similar items in the room.
  • There is video surveillance in common areas.

How do I check out of my room after my stay?

You must leaveyour cleaned and tidied room no later than 8:15 a.m. on your departure day.

You must return the key no later than 10 a.m. either to the Administration or to the key box at the entrance to the Villa. Remember to return the key before departure to avoid a fee of 1,400 kr. for cylinder replacement.

You may bring suitcases and bags with you to your classroom.

We expect you to hand over your room in the same condition as when you arrived:

  • Clean up and take all your belongings with you.

  • Clean the toilet and bathroom.

  • Place all furniture in their original positions.

  • Thoroughly vacuum the room.

  • Dispose trash in the blue container located in the parking lot near the canteen.

Can I be expelled if I don't follow the rules?

When you live in our residential school, you have also committed to familiarizing yourself with our house rules. We have zero tolerance for certain things. Immediate expulsion applies to the possession or use of:

  • Narcotics
  • Weapons
  • Fireworks
  • Pets
  • Violence
  • Vandalism
  • Harassment

What are the rules regarding tobacco, alcohol and narcotics?

TOBACCO

  • Green Academy is a smoke-free school. This means that you are not allowed to smoke or consume other nicotine products during school hours between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. – not even outside the school premises. This applies to all types of tobacco, including cigarettes, e-cigarettes, chewing tobacco, snuff, tobacco-free snuff, heated tobacco, and similar. Violation results in a fine of 1200 kr.

  • Between 4:15 p.m. and 7:45 a.m., it is acceptable to smoke or use other nicotine products at designated outdoor smoking areas.

ALCOHOL

  • Consumption and storage of alcohol on the school premises are strictly prohibited.

  • The café and Biergarten offer beer sales on selected days.

NARCOTICS

  • The school staff and a preventive narcotics team with a dog have access to and supervise the rooms.

  • If there is reasonable suspicion of possession and/or use of narcotics or alcohol, a search will be conducted.

  • Possession or use of narcotics on the school premises is typically reported to the police and results in immediate expulsion.

When is it quiet time at night?

  • At 10:00 p.m., there should be reasonable quietness, quiet enough for those who want to sleep to be able to do so.
  • At 11:00 p.m., everyone should be in their rooms, and complete silence is expected both in the rooms and throughout the residential school.
